Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 249 calls for service that resulted in 15 arrests. Offences included robbery, assault with a weapon, assaults, domestic assaults, obstruct police, mischief, breach of court orders, and public intoxication.

Arrest Warrants Executed

The investigation into the March 2nd robbery with violence on John St identified the other two suspects. Warrants were issued and both persons were arrested on Manitou St on March 7 at 5:40 p.m.. Shaquille Sutherland, 20 years, of Lee Ave has been charged with break and enter, robbery, 2 counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, and 2 counts of breach of probation. James Jackson 20 years of Massey Dr has been charged with break and enter, robbery, 2 counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and breach of probation. Both persons were held in custody for bail hearings.
    
Robbery

On the 7th March at 10:50 p.m. a man attended a apartment residence on Ferguson St and when the male resident opened the door he barged in, pushed the resident  back, punched him in the face then while holding him down, held a knife to the victims face and demanded money. The victim who knew his assailant managed to talk him down at which time the assailant left the apartment. He was arrested at an address on Ferguson St a short time later. Douglas Yetman 35years of Oak St was charged with break and enter, robbery, and assault with a weapon. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Cst Kyle Hughes is investigating.

Assault with a Weapon

At 12:53 a.m. on the 8th of March, an altercation at a north end bar resulted in a man striking two people in the head and neck area with a bottle. Kory Benoit 25 years of Beaver Crescent was arrested and charged with 2 counts of assault with a weapon and 2 counts of breach of a recognizance. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.   

Obstruct Police

At 10:50 a.m. on 7th March a vehicle stop for unauthorized plates resulted in the driver giving a false name. Subsequent investigation revealed his true identity. Rick Thomas 30 years of Marshall Ave was arrested and charged with obstruct police. He is to appear in court on Apr 8th 2014.  He was also summonsed for six Highway Traffic Act offences for Apr 4th 2014. Cst Aaron Northrup is investigating.

Break and Enter

At 11:23 p.m. on 08th March a woman inside a closed restaurant on the 500 block of Lakeshore Dr heard glass breaking then saw an inside door swing. She locked herself in the office and called the police. The suspect removed a cashbox, the woman’s wallet, and an IPad then fled the area. Entry had been made by throwing a brick through the window of the rear door.  Cst Kyle Hughes is investigating.
