On the 16th of June during the evening hours a woman complained to the North Bay Police Service that she had been attacked and robbed. After investigating the alleged incident in question Det. Cst. Vicky Thisdelle of this Service found it to be false.

The complainant consequently was charged.

Pamela BURNS 36 years old of Queen St. in Powassan is charged with Public Mischief and is to attend court on the 1st of Aug.


YOUTH----KNIFE


On the 18th of June during the early evening hours Cst. Penny Kerr and Richard Hampel of the North Bay Police Service arrested a 16-year-old girl in relation to an assault with a knife fight that occurred on the 14th of June on a sidewalk in North Bay.

She is charged with Assault With a Weapon and Breach of Probation. She is to attend court on the 26th of July.


NORTH BAY CONFERENCE


On the 21st and 22nd of June this week there will be a conference on Injury Prevention at the Clarion Resort in North Bay.

This conference will assist community partners in sharing information, programs and strategies relevant to Northern Ontario injuries and how to prevent them.

Various community partners such as the Police, Public Health representatives, Substance Abuse workers, Fire Prevention Officers, Road Safety Advocates and Educators will spend two days increasing their knowledge.

Various guest speakers will be present and the event will commence at 8:30 AM until 4 PM each day.

UNLAWFULLY IN DWELLING HOUSE

On the 14th of May during the afternoon hours a homeowner in the 300 block of Hutcheson Av. arrived home to find a man within the kitchen.

The man offered some excuse as to his being there and then left.

The Police were notified and eventually caught up with a man in relation to this incident.

Cory VANKEUREN 25 years old of Hutcheson Av. is charged with Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House. He is to appear in court on the 8th of Aug..


SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

On the 18th of June shortly before midnight it is alleged that as a woman was taking her bath within her home in the 800 block of O’Brien St. It is alleged that she was being video taped through the bathroom window.

It is further alleged that a man had stuck his arm through the window and was filming the woman. The North Bay Police Service was called and officers saw two men a short distance away that fled through the bush area at the rear of National Grocers.

They are described as at least 6’ tall in their 20s and wearing dark clothing.


FIGHT


On the 18th of June at approximately 9:30 PM it is alleged that 2 young men on bikes were confronted by at least 10 to 12 other males in the downtown core. An argument ensued and the two young men pedalled away. As they were attempting to enter a home in the 500 block of O’Brien St. the previous group of men who had followed in 2 vehicles, commenced to beat them.

The two male victims were treated at the North Bay General Hospital. They received several stitches, a bloody nose for one and the other received a gash above his eye. They were then released. The investigation continues.


BREAK AND ENTERS

On the 17th of June between the hours of 1 PM and 5 PM thieves entered a residence in the 200 block of Gladstone Av. through an unlocked rear door. They stole CDs, DVDs, a digital camera, change and socks.


Overnight on the 16th of June thieves entered New-To-You-Shoppe on Cassells St. through a window. Once inside they stole cash as well as 5 bracelets.


Overnight on the 18th of June thieves entered a building in the 200 block of Main St. W. and then forcibly entered two businesses. One of them was the Aids Committee North Bay and the other was the Machinists Union Local. Cash was taken in both instances. The Aids Committee of North Bay was also broken into in the same manner on the previous evening. Cash was also taken in that instance.


On the 16th of June at approximately 11 AM a homeowner noticed a bicycle in their yard and went to the back of the residence to investigate further. They then noticed that the neighbour’s rear door window was smashed. Police were called and as this was done a male was seen fleeing the home. Cash, a diamond wedding band, and silver man’s watch were stolen.

The thief is described as male white, 17 to 20 years old, and wearing a ball cap, white shirt with jeans. At the time he was riding a blue bike.


Overnight on the 16th of June a thief smashed a window at Video Fever and Danny’s Fine Meats on Lansdown Av. in Callander. Once inside he stole cash. The suspect is described as male white, average size, wearing dark baggy pants below the knees and fleeing the scene at approximately 1:20 AM.


On the 18th of June between the hours of 6 PM and 8 PM thieves forced their way into the Sibbet Centre on Main St. W. Once inside they broke into several units of the building. These were the Alzheimer’s Society, Gockey and ATS Tax Consultant Services. Cash was taken, as well as an Acer Laptop computer and a multimedia projector.
