The North Bay Police Service responded to 215 calls for service over this past weekend. Calls included domestic disputes, Liquor Licence Act offences, assaults, 911 calls and traffic offences. On Friday the 5th of July 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m.

On Friday the 5th of July 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m. an 80 year old male was waiting for his bus at the transit station at 190 Wyld Street in North Bay when without warning he was pushed to the ground from behind by a male not known to him. Police responded and investigation led to the arrest of a 24 year old male located at the scene. The accused was charged with one count of assault and will appear in court at a future date. Cst. Hughes is investigating.

On Saturday the 6th of July 2013, residents of a Queen Street address returned home to discover their home had been entered and ransacked. Various items were stolen including a 55” Phillips flat screen t.v., an Xbox with 30-40 games, various pieces of jewellery, CD’s and medication. There are no suspects at this time and investigation is continuing.

On Saturday the 6th of July 2013 at approximately 11:50 p.m. police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of McKeown Avenue and McNamara Street. Police found that two males were involved in an altercation and one male had cut the other in the hand with a broken bottle. Police arrested a 27 year old male and charged him with assault with a weapon, assault and possession of a controlled substance.

During the investigation it was discovered that the victim of the assault was breaching conditions imposed on him from a previous and unrelated matter. Officers placed the second male under arrest, at which time he broke away and fled on foot.

The 19 year old male was located after a brief foot chase and charged with breach of recognizance and escape lawful custody. Both males were held in custody and will appear in court at a future date. Cst. Randy Adair is investigating.
