Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 188 calls for service that resulted in 12 arrests. Offences included assaults, domestic assaults, criminal harassment, mischief, breach of court orders, arrest warrants, and public intoxication.

Forged Prescription

On Friday, February 7, a prescription for oxycocet was dropped off at a pharmacy to be filled. When the pharmacy checked the legitimacy of the prescription on the 9th Feb they determined that it had been forged and subsequently contacted the police. Amanda Palangio, 25 years old, of Astorville has been charged with uttering a forged document and is to appear in court on March 4, 2014. Cst Dan Shepstone is investigating.

Street Crime

On February 7 at 4:48 p.m. a drug transaction in a Clarence St. parking lot resulted in a man being arrested for trafficking. A search of his person located 66 grams of psilocybin (magic mushrooms), 15 grams of cocaine, 257 grams of marijuana, 3.8 grams of powder MDMA, 10 MDMA tablets that had Montreal Canadians logo stamped in them, 8.5 methamphetamine pills with a ice logo, 3 methamphetamine pills in the shape of legos, a digital scale, cell phone and a quantity of cash. A search of his residence located 236 methamphetamine pills with the ice logo, 46 methamphetamine lego pills, and 267 MDMA Montreal Canadian pills. Matthew Summers 25years of Clarence St has been charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking MDMA, trafficking psilocybin, trafficking marijuana, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of MDMA for the purpose of trafficking. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.       

Break and Enters

At 1:10 a.m. on February 8, entry was attempted to a restaurant on the 500 block of Lakeshore Dr. by smashing the glass in the front door. Entry was not gained because of the inner door also being locked. Cst Steve Chabbert is investigating. At 3 a.m. on February 8, entry was attempted at a second restaurant in the 500 block of Lakeshore Dr. by breaking the glass in the front door. Entry was not gained. Cst Scott Berry investigated.

Between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. February 8, entry was gained to a residence on the 600 Block of Worthington St. E. through an unlocked rear door. Nothing appears to have been taken. Cst Steve Chabbert is investigating.

At 3:46 a.m. February 9, a man at his residence on the 200 block of Landsdowne Ave. heard someone enter the porch portion of his residence. He attended the area, found his door ajar and when he went outside saw a man already down the street. Cst Robin Boucher is investigating.

R.I.D.E. Stats

Over the weekend the North Bay Police R.I.D.E. Program checked a total of 280 vehicles in 6 different locations. No criminal or provincial offences were identified.
