Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 243 calls for service that resulted in 16 arrests for a variety of offences that included, assaults, assault with a weapon, domestic assaults, robbery, break and enter , thefts, breach of court orders and public intoxication.

Robbery

At 9:49pm Dec 2nd a woman entered an unlocked residence on Cassells St. When she began searching the premises, the 65 yr old resident sleeping in the bedroom woke up and confronted her. After a short conversation a struggle ensued where the woman grabbed a large quantity of money from the pocket of his housecoat. The struggle continued down the hallway and outside where the victim managed to get a portion of the money back. The woman then fled on foot. At 10:09pm the woman was located at Fisher and Chippewa Sts where she was arrested and the remainder of the money retrieved. Angel Fillimchuk 35yrs of Carruthers St has been charged with break enter and theft, and robbery. She has been held in custody for a bail hearing. Cst Mark McLeod is investigating.

Break & Enter Arrest

On Dec 1st Carrie Youmans 29yrs of Franklin St was arrested and charged with 1 count of break enter and theft and 2 counts of breach of probation. The break and enter relates to an Oct 22nd occurrence where a woman entered a residence on Metcalf St, took jewellery and prescription drugs and when confronted by one of the residents said she was looking for someone, then put her shoes on and fled. She has been held in custody for a bail hearing. Cst Christian Elia is investigating.



Assault with a Weapon

Just prior to 2:00am on Dec 1st a patron had been evicted from a downtown bar. It is alleged that he took a knife from a downtown vendor, returned to the front of the bar where he brandished the knife and challenged the bar doorman. He was locked out of the bar and police were called. Aaron Black 23yrs of Massey Dr was arrested at 2:02am and charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. He is to appear in court on Jan 8th 2013.
