Fail To Remain

On the 27th of August 2006, at approx. 2:47 pm the victim was operating his 2006 Black Honda Civic east bound on Oak St. He was attempting to turn left into the Guardian Drugs parking lot when a driver operating a 2005 Chevrolet Impala struck him from behind. The driver of the Impala shouted obscenities at the victim and fled the scene. The driver is described as 25-26 yrs of age, short dark hair, clean shaven and wearing dark sunglasses. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Cst. Solman of the North Bay Police Service.


Purse Snatcher Nabbed

On Friday August 25th, 2006, a customer frequenting a local gas station on Fisher St. was victimized when her purse was suddenly stolen. The police were contacted and a description was provided. Cst. Martin and Cst. Jackson of the North Bay Police Service responded to the call and located a male party matching the description. He was arrested and found to have items from the victim’s purse in his packsack. Tyler Whitnall, 18, of no fixed address, was charged with theft under.


Stolen Autos Recovered/Charges laid

Officers from the North Bay Police Service were kept busy over the weekend regarding complaints of stolen vehicles. Four vehicles were reported stolen over the weekend including: a 2001 blue Dodge Dakota, a 1999 white Dodge Caravan, a 1993 silver Dodge Caravan and a 2002 Silver Dodge Caravan.

The 2001 Dodge Dakota was recovered in Sturgeon Falls on Saturday morning @ approx. 01:10 am after reports that the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed and without its headlights on.

The 1993 silver Dodge Caravan was observed Sunday Morning at approx. 05:30 am with another vehicle, a green Dodge Caravan reported stolen from the Sudbury area. Police observed one of these vehicles as it was leaving the area of the Northgate Mall. Police attempted to stop both vehicles but were unsuccessful and the culprits made good their getaway. The green Caravan was eventually located later that morning abandoned on Metcalfe St and the 1993 silver Dodge Caravan was located on Fraser St. Also recovered during this investigation was the 1997 white Pontiac Montana reported stolen on Thursday. It was located in the parking lot of Northgate Square.
That investigation continues.

Later that same day, another vehicle was reported stolen from Dorothy St. The report of the 2002 silver Dodge Caravan was taken by police at approx. 3:00 pm and by 4:00 pm the vehicle was spotted by officers on patrol. The vehicle was stopped on Chippewa St. and two individuals were arrested without incident. Daniel Landry, 36 yrs., of Trout Lake Rd. and Cory VanKeuren, 25 yrs., of Packard St. are facing charges of Possession of Stolen Property x2 and Break Enter and Theft and are scheduled to appear in Bail court later today.

Break and Enters

A residence on Fourth Ave. was broken into over the weekend; taken from the home was a dvd player, and a sound system.

A home on Duke St. was also broken into this weekend where it was reported that an undisclosed amount of money was taken.
