Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 218 calls for service that resulted in 23 arrests. Offences included assaults, domestic assaults, assault with a weapon, assault police, mischief, breach of court orders and public intoxication.

PUBLIC NUDITY
On the 18th of August at 5:40 am an officer responded to a call about a naked male running down the street. The man was located at Cassells St at McIntyre but before the officer could get out of the vehicle he was attacked. An altercation ensued where pepper spray was deployed but had no effect. The man continued to fight with the officer until other officers arrived and man was subdued. Sheldon Corston 24yrs of Clarence St has been charged with committing an indecent act and assaulting a peace officer. Both the accused and the officer were taken to hospital treated and released.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON
On 19th Aug at 11:20 pm a man that had been evicted from a downtown bar threaten the doorman with a length of chain that he took from a satchel he was carrying. When located by the police 20 minutes later, the man gave a false name but when arrested, the chain was located in the satchel he was carrying. Jorma Kariluoma 56 yrs of Sudbury has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, carry concealed weapon, obstruct police and breach of probation. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

VEHICLE ENTERED
On the 18th Aug between 2:40 and 3:30 pm a vehicle in a parking lot on Mcgaughey St was entered by smashing the passenger side window. A purse that had been visible on the passenger floor was stolen. The contents included a driver’s licence, health card, SIN card, passport, several credit cards, American Express travellers’ cheques and a quantity of American money. Cst Stacy Jackson is investigating.

TRESSPASS BY NIGHT
At 5:20 am on the 18th Aug police observed a man go into the back yard of a Victoria St residence. When approached the man refused to identify himself and when arrested, pulled away and ran. He was stopped by a second officer who he shoved. He physically resisted arrest but was apprehended without further incident. Eric Lariviere 24 yrs of McNamara St is charged with trespass by night, resist arrest, and escape lawful custody. Csts Ken Ayres and Robin Boucher are investigating.
