Man faces charges following break & enter attempt

At approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, North Bay Police responded to a 911 call regarding an attempt to break in to a residence on Douglas Street.

A neighbour who saw three men trying to break in, and attempted to stop them by calling out to them, was subsequently sprayed in the eyes by one of the suspects with what was described as either bear spray or pepper spray. The three men then fled on foot.

Upon arrival, North Bay Police found the victim to be in severe pain and having difficulty seeing. Paramedics then arrived to transport the victim to hospital for medical attention.  While police attempted to arrest one of the suspects, who was located in the backyard of a residence in the vicinity, another man obstructed police’s access to him.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police charged Jaiden St. Georges, age 21, of North Bay with one count of break, enter with intent; two counts of trespass by night; one count of disguise with intent; one count of assault with a weapon; one count of possession of prohibited weapon; two counts of breach of probation; and one count of breach of prohibition order.

The Douglas Street residence described in this occurrence is the same one that was targeted in an earlier break and enter which took place in the early morning of Tuesday, August 12, as reported by police in a release issued on August 13. One man was charged with several counts in relation to this first incident, but police are still looking to identity two other male suspects, both of whom had their hands and faces concealed by bandanas at the time.
