Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 229 calls for service that resulted in 17 arrests. Offences included assaults, domestic assaults, assault with a weapon, theft over $5000, threatening, criminal harassment, impaired driving, mischief, breach of court orders, and public intoxication.

Weapons Charge
At 12:50am on 14th Apr North Bay Police responded to a fight call at a residence on the 700 block of Algonquin Ave. Investigation revealed that a man had been in an argument with another man then left and returned with two hammers, threatened to kill the people in the residence , and smashed holes in the door with the hammers. He left again and returned with an axe. A struggle occurred, the axe was taken away but one person was cut in the process. Mitchell Stewart 27yrs of Algonquin Ave was arrested and charged with 2 counts of assault with a weapon, mischief and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Cst Chris Marshall is investigating.

Threats
At 10:46 pm on the 12th Apr police responded to an unwanted male at a bar on Seymour St. When asked to leave the man threatened to take the officer’s gun, and also threatened to blow up the bar. Elijah Fricker 27 yrs of Belleview Cr was arrested and charged with 2 counts of threatening and breach of probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Cst Chris Marshall is investigating.

Theft of Vehicle
At 5:54 am on the 13th Apr an off duty OPP officer reported a black chev p/up driving on a rim in the area of High St and Algonquin Ave. The vehicle was observed to go up Ann St to Lorne to Douglas St where the vehicle stopped and 3 males fled the vehicle. Investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Sudbury sometime after 11:00 pm on the 12th Apr. The area was sealed and a search located the 3 males hiding in a tarp garage in the area. The males were identified as 15 and 16 yr old young offenders from the Sudbury area. They have been charged with a total of 15 charges that include theft of the vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled drug, and breaches of probation.
