North Bay Police say they will make free house calls to retrieve unwanted firearms, ammunition, weapons, and explosives

These items should not be brought inside the police station.

"As spring cleaning and decluttering carries on into the summer months, many individuals may discover they are in possession of unwanted, unsafe, or potentially illegal firearms, ammunition, weapons, or explosives," says a news release. "The North Bay Police Service makes it easy to safely dispose of these unwanted items: Officers can attend your residence to retrieve the unwanted items."

Call 705-497-5555,  and provide details about the item you wish the police to pick up, and set up a time for the exchange.

Police warn you not to bring these items to the police station as the items could be dangerous and weapons of any kind are not permitted inside the North Bay Police Service headquarters.

"Recently the North Bay Police Service has had several incidents of individuals entering the police station with a weapon seeking to deliver the weapon to police for destruction. All these incidents were resolved safely for everyone involved, but the Police Service reminds the public that weapons are not allowed inside the police station. If you must attend in person, please leave the item in your vehicle. Officers will meet you outside the station to retrieve the item."
