Update: Pedestrian struck by a school bus
The following is an update to a news release the North Bay Police Service issued on November 10, 2015.
On Tuesday, November 10 at 8:28 a.m., the driver of a school bus with 18 primary school students on board, was making a left turn from Second Avenue West onto Cassells Street when she struck a 77-year-old male pedestrian who was walking westbound on Second Avenue West and crossing the crosswalk on Cassells Street on a green light.
The pedestrian, who sustained serious injuries, was transported to hospital by ambulance.
Neither the school bus driver nor the student passengers were injured.
As a result of the investigation, North Bay Police charged the 43-year old female driver with fail to yield to pedestrian under 144 (7) of the Highway Traffic Act.
Single-vehicle collision on Four Mile Lake Road
At noon on Wednesday, November 11, police, fire and ambulance were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Four Mile Lake Road. The 18-year-old male driver, with three male passengers on board and was travelling at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle and rolled over several times.
All four persons sustained injuries as a result of the collision and were transported to hospital by ambulance.
As a result of the investigation, North Bay Police charged the driver with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under Section 249 of the Criminal Code.
