Following a news alert issued yesterday, the North Bay Police Service is investigating a third incident regarding a chocolate bar collected by trick-or-treater on Halloween night.

At approximately 5:14 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, a complainant contacted police regarding a chocolate bar collected by a child on Halloween night which contained a razor blade in it. The child was trick-or-treating in the area of Massey Drive, Prince Edward Drive and Thelma Avenue.

The investigation into this, and the other two incidents reported yesterday, continues.

Parents are reminded to inspect all treats before allowing children to eat them. If a treat appears to have been rewrapped or tampered with, please report the incident to the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555.

Domestic Violence Stats for the Month of October 2014

Over the month of October, 2014, 97 domestic occurrences were reported to the North Bay Police. As a result of police investigations into these complaints, 23 people were charged.

17 males were charged with the following criminal offences:

  • one male was charged with sexual assault;

  • seven males were charged with assault;

  • three males were charged with utter threats; and

  • six males were charged with fail to comply with release orders or probation orders.

6 females were charged with the following criminal offences:

  • two females were charged with assault;

  • one female was charged with utter threats and assault; and

  • three females were charged with fail to comply with release orders or probation orders.

Take the pledge to end domestic violence

In an effort to put an end to domestic violence in our community, the North Bay Police Service has partnered with the City of North Bay and Nipissing Transition House to engage the citizens of North Bay to be part of the solution. As of today’s date, 3038 people added their names to the oneplege.ca campaign. Our goal is to reach 20,000.
