Results of today’s targeted traffic enforcement

On Monday, we asked Twitter followers of @NorthBayPolice to vote for where they think the North Bay Police Service should conduct its targeted traffic enforcement this week. We listened.

Following the results of the Twitter poll, the North Bay Police Service’s traffic officer, working in partnership with patrol officers, conducted a targeted traffic enforcement on Fisher Street from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. this morning.

The results are as follows:
29 speeding tickets issued (the highest speed was 78 km/hr);
three 72-hour notices issued for documentation (drivers have 72 hours to show police their insurance slip or driver’s licence).

Unsolved Missing Person Investigation: Brian Henry disappeared on May 5, 1974

This morning, as part of a series of media conferences on its unsolved missing person and homicide investigations, the North Bay Police Service hosted a media conference regarding the disappearance of Brian Henry.

On May 5, 1974, 21-year old Brian Henry went to work with his father John Henry.

At the time, John Henry was an employee of Canadore College who was working the 4 p.m. to midnight shift. Brian took the opportunity to walk the trails behind Canadore College as he was an avid bird watcher. John had made arrangements with Brian to meet him at his car at midnight if he wished to be driven home. When John Henry completed his shift, Brian was not at the vehicle. He made the assumption that Brian decided to walk. When John arrived home he was told by other family members that Brian had not returned.

At approximately 2 a.m. the next morning, John contacted his friend Cst. Foster of the North Bay Police Department and told him the story. As a result of their conversation, the two men drove together to the Canadore trails to look for Brian. Between 5:30 and 7:15 a.m., John Henry organized a group of friends to walk the Canadore trails to look for his son. Brian was not found.

On May 6, 1974, Brian Henry was officially reported missing to the North Bay Police Department.
Brian Henry has not been seen or heard from since.
