Criminal harassment investigation leads to charges

Yesterday, following an ongoing criminal harassment investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 33-year-old North Bay man with:
One count of assault with a weapon;
One count of criminal harassment; and
One count of possession of property obtained by crime.

It is alleged that in April 2017, following an argument between the accused and his former girlfriend in her residence, the accused pointed an opened pocket knife towards her. The accused eventually lowered the blade and left her residence. She was not injured. It is also alleged that, after this incident in April, the accused harassed the victim.

A police search of the accused’s pockets after his arrest on June 15, 2017, revealed that he was in possession of items belonging to the victim, which had been reported missing from the victim’s residence.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing today.

In the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.
