Fraud Caution
The North Bay Police want to caution the public about recent apartment frauds. Advertisements on Kijiji of local apartments for rent where the landlord is out of town have been determined to be fraudulent. Communication with the landlord is usually by the internet and the price is usually lower than expected. Pictures of the building and apartment are supplied and the keys will be forwarded when the first and last month’s rent is received through Western Union.
Persons seeking apartment accommodation should never send money prior to dealing with someone in person while they are being showed the apartment. If the rent and conditions are too good to be true, they usually are.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
As a community partner of the Seniors at Risk Network, the North Bay Police want the public to know that Saturday June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Senior Abuse takes on many forms and criminals target the elderly because of their trusting nature.
Victim Services of Nipissing in conjunction with the Seniors at Risk Network have created booklet “Safety Planning for Seniors”. This booklet can be viewed and/or downloaded by visiting website victimservicesnipissing.com
