Robbery On 16th Aug at 2:50 a.m. a taxi picked up a man on the 100 block of Main St W who wanted to go to Clarence St.

On 16th Aug at 2:50 a.m. a taxi picked up a man on the 100 block of Main St W who wanted to go to Clarence St. The man sat directly behind the driver and when the vehicle was stopped on Clarence St the man reached over the drivers head with a prybar and attempted to choke him while telling him to give him the money. The driver accelerated then slammed on the brakes several times trying to dislodge the prybar. The man threatened to stab him but the driver managed to call for help on the microphone and slammed on the brakes one final time. The man then got out of the cab and ran east on Greenwood Ave. The man is described as male, white average build, black hair, thin black beard and round cheeks, wearing a camo jacket and blue jeans. Cst Scott Berry is investigating.

Arsons
Between 12:56 a.m. and 3:49 a.m. on the 16th Aug North Bay Police responded to 3 separate arsons. The first was at 12:56a.m. at Sam Jacks Field at the end of Gladstone Ave where garbage and a port-a-john were destroyed. The second was at 1:36a.m. , a mattress behind 489 Main St W was destroyed. The third fire at 3:49a.m. was on Regina St near the corner of McIntyre St E and involved garbage and recycling. A man was seen running from that fire and is described as; male 5’ to 5’6’, 20 years, medium build, and wearing dark clothing. The North Bay Fire Dept attended and extinguished each of the fires. The investigations are continuing.
