Asleep at the wheel, woman facing impaired charges

 A female driver has been charged with impaired after police investigated a parked car with its engine running.

On May 23, shortly after 2 a.m., Nipissing West OPP checked a parked vehicle, still running in a parking lot at a business on Front Street, Sturgeon Falls.

"The driver was found sleeping behind the wheel and was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing," says Constable Rob Lewis.

Gabrielle Baronette, 24, from West Nipissing, is charged with:

  • failure to comply with an undertaking,
  • operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and
  • operation while impaired

Baronette was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6 in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
