O'Hagan calls for a strategic plan for Catholic Board

'The strategic plan for the next four years should be the result of consultation and planning in which our communities contribute their voices to identify key priorities to understand where we could change our practice to earn a high degree of public confidence as well as provincial standards that equal or exceed expectations'

Nipissing-Parry Sound District Catholic School Board candidate Frank O'Hagan wants a four-year strategic plan to be implemented to engage students, staff, families and surrounding educational communities.

"The strategic plan for the next four years should be the result of consultation and planning in which our communities contribute their voices to identify key priorities to understand where we could change our practice to earn a high degree of public confidence as well as provincial standards that equal or exceed expectations."

O'Hagan says in a news release that this is not a priority of the present board, which he calls "elected and appointed members who are mere puppets, and masters of mere lip service as suits their egos and personal agendas."

"Their inability to be truthful with integrity and lack of transparency. and accountability is shameful both individually and collectively. and in need of an investigation," says O'Hagan.

The former board member has been a frequent critic of the present board's transparency and hiring practices.

"Have they consulted with students, staff, families, and community members about the most important areas upon which to focus to prepare all students for future success and empower all learners?

"Next to the selection of an effective leader as director and chair, the development of a sound multi-year strategic plan is the most important Board responsibility.
Hosting online surveys and focus group collaborations for students, parents, and staff who share their thinking about the future direction can help prioritize our work and respect inclusiveness.

"Unfortunately the present elected and appointed members have failed in this regard and a new slate and changes are desperately needed to be elected and serve to replace those who have served too long and no longer appear willing or capable to do the right things in education needs and students deserve."
