Summer in the Park organizers had a tough time keeping their wristbands in stock Friday morning.

Patricia Alcorn-Carr, a Summer in the Park Committee Member, was at the corner of Judge and Lakeshore selling wristbands.

“Actually we ran out down here, I have quite a few to deliver but they paid me in advance which is great and I can see someone coming in with more, so it’s been a great morning,” said Alcorn-Carr.

A reduced price of $25.00 (plus HST) has created a buzz this May as Summer in the Park organizers will be bumping the price up to $35.00 (plus HST) on June 1st.

“Past year's we used to sell in July right up to the event and we knew with this great wristband price, $25.00 plus HST this year, we needed to get them out early and we thought this was a great opportunity every Friday, different locations and great help with the media in the mornings to sell them in advance,” said Alcorn-Carr, who believes they sold close to 200 tickets Friday morning.

Alcorn-Carr says the committee will be selling Summer in the Park wristbands again Saturday at the DIA Car and Bike Show in downtown North Bay.

Wristbands can also be purchased at various locations before June 1st including City Hall, Capitol Centre Box Office, North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce, TD Bank (North Bay Mall), TD Bank (Main Street), Canadian Tire, Parkers Independent Grocers, Burrows Country Store & Garden Centre, and the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park.

Wristbands can be purchased online at: https://secure1.tixhub.com/capitol-nb/procurement/

Headlining this year’s event is country singer Johnny Reid on Friday night and Canadian rock icon Burton Cummings the following night.

Other notable acts include Autumn Hill, Michelle Wright and Alan Frew.
