Man charged after smoking on bus

A man who was drunk on an Ontario Northland bus drew the attention of Almaguin Highlands OPP Monday afternoon. At approximately 1:45 OPP were called to Ontario Street in Burk’s Falls to deal with an intoxicated man on the ONTC bus.

At approximately 1:45 OPP were called to Ontario Street in Burk’s Falls to deal with an intoxicated man on the ONTC bus.

OPP arrested Donald Stillar, 62 of Severn Township and charged him with smoking tobacco in a public place contrary to the Smoke Free Ontario Act, and public intoxication.

Meanwhile, here’s a lesson of thinking before you act.

On the morning of Friday September 12, Almaguin Highlands OPP were investigating a threatening complaint. 

The accused drove to the OPP station where he was arrested and charged with uttering threats. 

A second officer went to talk to the passengers in the accused vehicle to advise them of the delay.

The officer recognized the passengers, and that one of the young men was on probation conditions not to communicate with the other youth. 

OPP arrested the passenger and charged him with fail to comply with disposition, contrary to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) and Obstruct Peace Officer, contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The youth cannot be named, under the YCJA.
