Today staff, physicians and community partners gathered at the North Bay Regional Health Centre to celebrate the launch of the MOREOB program.

The MOREOB (Managing Obstetrics Risk Efficiently) program is an interprofessional patient safety program that focuses on effective communication and teamwork. It improves quality of care, influences culture change, encompasses professional development and enhances knowledge management in obstetrical units.

“This is a proven program that will help our obstetric unit save lives, time and money through improved safety performance, reduced liability costs, better mother and baby outcomes and better use of resources,” explains Joanne Laplante, Director of Ambulatory, Women & Children.

The MOREOB program is implemented over a three year period and involves evidenced based education, skills drills and simulation. The program consists of three modules, with each module including theory chapters, skills drills, workshops, personal learning projects, case audits, patient satisfaction surveys, and evaluation. The guiding principle of the program is patient safety.

More information about the program can be found at www.moreob.com.
