The North Bay Police Service is asking the motoring public to be extra vigilant when navigating the downtown core on Friday.

The Armed Forces Day event at the waterfront will attract a large number of spectators and some congestion is expected.

In particular, Oak Street in the area of the museum will be reduced to one lane to accommodate bus traffic as thousands of students will be attending the event.

Memorial Drive will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., a detour on Main Street West at Gormanville Road will be in place at 10:30 a.m. and members of the Canadian Forces will be marching to the waterfront from the Royal Canadian Legion on First Ave departing at 11:00 a.m.
