The Health Unit, in consultation with the Ministry of the Environment and City of North Bay, is lifting the drinking water restrictions for owners of private water systems that draw from Trout Lake, except for properties from 110 – 270 Silver Lady Lane. This means that all residents, except for those on Silver Lady Lane, can resume all water usage.

Formaldehyde biodegrades in water in 48-72 hours, and we are now past the 72 hour period.

Given that properties on Silver Lady Lane were impacted the most by the spill, residents from 110 -270 Silver Lady Lane are still restricted from any water use. This means:

 Do not use the water for drinking, cooking, showering, washing fruits and vegetables, brushing teeth, etc.

 Do not swim or participate in other water sport activities near 110-270 Silver Lady Lane.

 Do not use water near the affected area for pets or livestock.

Residents of Silver Lady Lane from 274 and east can use the water for recreational purposes, but are advised not to use the water for drinking, cooking, showering, washing fruits and vegetables, brushing teeth, etc.

All residents of Silver Lady Lane will have their private water systems tested before the Health Unit makes the decision to lift their drinking water restrictions.

“While we appreciate this is good news for most of those who live along Trout Lake, the work is not completed until the situation is resolved. We appreciate your continued patience and compliance.”
