Police caution public about picking up people following theft

At 4:30 PM Dec 19th a 76 yr old lady driving her car was stopped at McIntyre St at John St when a female knocked on her passenger window and asked for a ride to get warm. The lady allowed her to get in the vehicle and drove on McIntyre St as far as Fisher St where the female got out grabbing the lady’s purse and running into an alleyway.

The suspect is described as; White, 20to 30yrs, 5’2” to 5’3” tall, skinny build, shoulder length bleach blonde wavy hair, wearing a black winter coat.

The purse is a beige vinyl shoulder bag with pockets on each side. It contained personal papers and a woman’s red leather wallet containing ID and credit cards.

The North Bay Police wish to caution the public about picking people up in these types of circumstances. We recommend you contact the police as soon as practicable and advise that there is someone at that location looking for assistance.
