The North Bay Police Service Traffic Section reports the number of motor vehicle collisions in October 2011 for North Bay and Callander were down 19% from the same month last year. This continues the downward trend in collisions seen in the third quarter of 2011.
As a result of the decline in collisions, there was a dramatic reduction in injuries resulting from collisions. 11 people were injured in car accidents during October 2011, down from 23 in October 2010, a drop of 52%.
The North Bay Police recognize that excessive speed and distracted driving are causes of a significant percentage of motor vehicle collisions and officers will persist in enforcement regarding these issues, all in an effort to continue the reduction of consequential property damage and personal injury.
