Callander hands out Community Spirit Award

On Saturday October 1st, The Municipality of Callander hosted their annual Evening of Appreciation. This event pays tribute to the many dedicated volunteers that make Callander such a great place to live. The highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Community Spirit Award. The Award is presented to a member of the community “whom has made a significant personal commitment to the Municipality either by their time, effort, knowledge, resources, leadership, initiative or creativity.”

This year’s winner is Isla Reed. Isla has been a member of the Callander Horticulture Society for over 35 years and is one of the original founding members from 1976. Over her 35 years she has been instrumental in coordinating various horticulture based events including guest speakers such Ed Lawrence and Paul Zammit. Her peers describe her as the glue the holds the society together.

For her tireless effort and constant support of our community, The Council of the Municipality of Callander would like to congratulate Mrs. Isla Reed, 2011 recipient of Callander Community Spirit Award.
