Temiskaming OPP are investigating a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Hwy 11 between Marten River and Temagami at approximately 12:12 PM on 03 Aug 2008.
A pick up truck left the roadway and struck a rock cut seriously injuring the 74 year old male driver who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The driver was airlifted to hospital by air ambulance but later died from his injuries.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit. The highway was totally closed for approximately 1 hour, after which traffic was restricted to one lane for approximately 4.5 hours.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
