BayToday, in partnership with the North Bay Humane Society, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

Mittens

Someone once said “there are no ordinary cats,” and Mittens is no exception.

At 10 years old, after a lifetime of adventures, Mittens the short hair black cat is looking for a fresh start in a new home. She came to the Humane Society as a surrender from an owner who was no longer able to care for her.

In the adoptions world, it’s not uncommon for senior cats and black cats - two traits in which Mittens fits the bill - go to unnoticed. But Mittens is worth a second look. She’s spayed, friendly, outgoing and would fit into any loving home.

Like some other senior cats, she’s a bit overweight but with a steady dietary regimen - and a family to encourage her - Mittens can slim down to her old self.

Mittens loves back scratches and snuggles (who doesn’t) and is just waiting patiently to meet her new mom/dad.

To meet Mittens, call the Humane Society at 705-474-1251 or drop in to 2060 Main Street West.
