Fraud
Recently a North Bay man received a reply to a job that was alleged to have been posted on Kijiji. The ad stated that a man wanted to hire a driver for his wife who would be moving from the United Kingdom. The package the North Bay man received in response to his application was delivered by a delivery service. It included a cheque for $1,950.00 with instructions to keep $600.00 and send the rest to an address in Florida. The delivery service driver had delivered approximately 30 other similar packages in our area.
The North Bay Police wish to caution the public about frauds of this nature. Any time you receive a cheque with instructions to cash the cheque and then send a portion of the money on, it is always a fraud. The circumstances around this type of fraud can change and be very unique but the money request is always similar.
