Five years ago a small group of Mosquito players traveled down south in an attempt to win a provincial title. Both times as Mosquito age players they never even won a game.

The Sudbury Wolves will play a pre-season match-up at the North Bay Memorial Gardens versus the Rouyn Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) on Saturday, September 8th at 7:00 p.m.

The Lady Lakers were blanked 2-0 against the defending OUA champion Ottawa Gee-Gees in Sunday soccer action. The Gee-Gees capitalized on a turn over in the midfield as Amanda Robinson notched in the first goal at the ten minute mark.

Both the Lakers and Lady Lakers dropped their opening contests of the soccer season. In men's action, the Lakers were shut out 3-0 at the hands of Carleton University.

The North Bay Skyhawks dropped the second half of a home and home set 5-2 to the Pembroke Lumber Kings. Nik Priebe and Aliaksei Kulikouskiy scored for the Skyhawks in the loss.

The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club invites all interested players to try out for the 2007-2008 Club Volleyball teams. These teams represent North Bay and Area in the Ontario Volleyball Association tournaments throughout the Province.

The North Bay Trappers and Nickel City Sons played to a 6-6 draw Thursday night at the Ray Plourde arena in Valley East. Mitchell Davis and Jamie Olivier had a pair of goals for the Trappers, while singles went to Anthony Trozzo and Nick Huard.

The Nipissing soccer teams will be hitting the pitch this weekend as the start of the 2007 Ontario University Athletics soccer season begins.
