The Nipissing Alouettes took an edge in the season series against their regional rival, the Temiscaming Royals, in an 8-2 win on Friday night at the Sturgeon Falls Arena.

It was a busy day on the ice at both Memorial Gardens and West Ferris arena for the annual NDA Hockey Tournament. In local action, the West Ferris Trojans struggled on day one. The Trojans opened the tournament at 8:00 a.m.

The Nipissing Lakers volleyball teams claimed round one of the battle of the Bay by defeating their cross campus rivals the Canadore Panthers.

The North Bay Skyhawks rang in a new era on a winning note as they snuck by the Sudbury Junior Wolves 2-1 at the McClelland Arena in Sudbury on Wednesday night. Dustin Fummerton and AJ Shiverdecker scored for the Skyhawks in the win.

Guelph – The North Bay Stingers Peewee "AA" hockey team was eliminated after three games of round robin play here on the weekend. In their first contest the Stingers fell 5-0 to the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven.
