The North Bay Hilltop Variety Blades dropped a 6-3 decision to the Soo Thunderbirds in the final of the Steel City Tournament in Sault Ste. Marie on the weekend.

The Temiscaming Royals swept a weekend home and home series by blanking the Espanola Kings 9-0 Sunday afternoon at the Centre in Temiscaming. Tim Revell led the offence for the Royals with 4 goals, including two on the powerplay.

Mitchell Davis missed on a penalty shot that would have tied the game in the third period as the North Bay Trappers dropped a 2-1 decision to the Timmins Majors on Sunday afternoon in Timmins.

The North Bay Trappers scored 12 goals in the first period en route to a decisive 19-2 victory over the Kapuskasing Flyers on Saturday night.

The Temiscaming Royals returned to GMHL action Saturday night visiting the Espanola Kings, and came home with a 8-3 win. The Royals led the game right from the start, 3-0 after the first and 6-1 after two periods.

The North Bay Trappers started a busy weekend on a winning note by blasting the last place Kapuskasing Flyers 9-3 on Friday night in Kapuskasing. Nick Huard, Andrew Burke Liam Berti and Darnell Koosees each scored twice in the win.

The North Bay Skyhawks got their first win of 2008 with a 5-2 victory over the Blind River Beavers Friday afternoon.

The North Bay Skyhawks continue to have difficulty defeating the Soo Thunderbirds. The Skyhawks fell to 2-4 against the team from the Lock City after dropping a 4-2 decision to the T-Birds Thursday night in Sault Ste. Marie.
