Nighbor Named to Attend European Tour

Canmore Alberta - North Bay's David Nighbor has been named to the European OPA Cup/U23 Championship Team by Cross Country Canada.

Auld helps Canada to win at Spengler Cup

Former North Bay Centennials goalie Alex Auld stopped 33 shots as Canada's National Team defeated Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Russian Super League 5-2 in Canada's opening game of the Spengler Cup tournament.

North Bay hockey icon Pete Palangio, who was the oldest living Montreal Canadien, passed away in his sleep at 4 a.m. on Christmas Eve at the age of 96, in his North Bay home.

The Hockey News featured North Bay's Kevin Kerr on its front page in November. The North Bay native is tied for the all-time goal scoring record in minor pro hockey. It may be a record breaking Christmas for North Bay native Kevin Kerr.

Ski club Christmas hours

The North Bay Nordic Ski Club will be closing at 4 p.m. on Dec. 24 and will be closed on Christmas Day. The clubhouse will be open regular hours on Boxing Day. Regular hours of operation are Sunday and Monday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

O'Shea sign unveiling cancelled

A ceremony to unveil a sign paying tribute to Grey Cup Champion and North Bay native, Mike O'Shea has been postponed due to the frigid temperatures. The unveiling the billboard was to take place at the corner of Fisher and Princess at 2 p.m. Monday.
