Tweens reach semifinals

PICKERING — The North Bay Paramedics/CTS Canadian Career College Tween ‘A’ team reached the semifinals in the 26th annual Pickering ringette tournament. In round-robin play, they finished 2-1-1 in a very strong pool of contenders.

Weightlifting results

The results of the 2003 Ontario junior men’s and women’s weightlifting championships, held at the North Bay YMCA gym, follow: The order is as follows: competitors name, team, snatch, clean and jerk, total, placing, Sinclair formula rating.

NDA action postponed

The inclement weather forced the cancellation of all Nipissing District Association basketball and volleyball action Thursday. The girls volleyball games will be made up Wednesday Feb. 4. The boys basketball contests will be re-scheduled.

Barons sweep Braves

The Algonquin Barons swept the Northern Braves in NDA basketball action on December 19. The Juniors won in a tight affaire by the score of 55 to 47.

Carter Cup this weekend

The annual Carter Cup tournament is on tap this weekend at Memorial Gardens. St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears of the Nipissing District Association Hockey League are the hosts. Eight teams are entered including the Bears, Sudbury St.

SUDBURY — The West Ferris Ringette Association sent four entries to the Greater Sudbury ringette invitational tournament this weekend with two teams claiming the top prize in their division.
