The Nipissing Alouettes came so close to recording their first ever victory over the defending Russell Cup champions Bradford Rattlers but four second period goals proved to be the difference in a 7-6 loss at the Sturgeon Falls Arena on Friday night.

North Bay's Katie Weston has been named the Top Newcomer by the University of Buffalo Track and Field team which announced its awards recently for the '07-'08 season.

The peewee house league girl ICEBOLTZ won gold this past weekend in the North Bay Blue Sky Classic Tournament. The girls were in a division facing 5 Sudbury Girls Teams.

Trent Lizee scored 4 times and added 1 assist to lead the North Bay Skyhawks to a 5-2 victory over the Sudbury Jr. Wolves Wednesday night in Greater Sudbury. Kyle Radigan scored the other Skyhawks goal and added 3 assists.

NORTH BAY – This year’s OFSAA Girls ‘A’ Basketball Championship will be hosted by Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics (NOSSA) and École secondaire catholique Algonquin, and will take place on November 20th to the 22nd, 2008 at E.S.C.

The Junior Boys' Volleyball Team at Ecole secondaire Franco-Cité claimed their first NDA Title Wednesday afternoon by defeating the Widdifield Wildcats 3-0 in the 3rd game of the best-of-three NDA final.

The Wildcats capped off a perfect season going 43-0; not losing one set an entire season and capturing and another NDA championship in NDA Sr. Boys Volleyball action.
