Another Nipissing Wild player has taken home one of the OFC’s Player of the Week awards. Jeremy Poeta was named Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in a 35-7 loss to the Sudbury Gladiators.

Poeta opened the game with an amazing 120 yard kickoff return for touchdown; the longest return in the OFC this season.

The first year Wild player now leads the league in kick return yards with 363 on the season. The SJSH product has shown to be a true “triple threat” on the field, having scored a touchdown on offence, defense and now special teams.

Poeta’s award adds to the growing list of individual accolades for Wild players this season. In the first 6 week’s of the season 4 different Wild players have won a player of the week honour.

This week, the Wild (1-5) are looking to capture a couple
of firsts for their franchise as they travel to Hamilton to take on the Panthers (1-5).

A win for Nipissing would not only secure the first playoff spot in team history, it would also be the first road win for the franchise.
