Wildcats sweep through NDA Curling Championships

Both Wildcat teams will compete at NOSSA in Sault Ste. Marie February 23-24.

The Widdifield Wildcats boys and girls curling teams both went undefeated at the NDA curling championships, hosted at the North Bay Granite Club.
 
Play started Thursday with the girls and boys winning all 3 games on the first day.  Both teams went directly to the finals.
 
For the boys, skipped by Chris Bowman, they defeated Ecole Secondaire Franco-Cite from Sturgeon Falls 8-4 in the final game.  Other team members include Will Patterson, Lead; Tanner Johnson, Second; Ben Alexander, Vice; and coached by John Bowman.
 
The boys first two games were lop sided wins, and their third, a closer match.  
 
The boys are three-peat winners of the NDA curling championships.
 
The girls played Ecole Sceondaire Catholique Algonquin in the final and won 13-1 after 4 ends.
 
The girls won 12-3 in their first match against FJ McElligott and 10-2 against Ecole Secondaire Franco-Cite and won a back and forth game 11-10 game,scoring 2 in the last end against Ecole Secondaire Elisabeth-Bruyere.
 
The girls are repeat winners of the NDA curling championships.
 
Both Wildcat teams will compete at NOSSA in Sault Ste. Marie February 23-24.
 
Also going to NOSSA are the girls runner up, Ecole Secondaire Catholique Algonquin and the boys runner up, Ecole Secondaire Franco-Cite.
