Wildcats runnerup in v-ball

MISSISSAUGA — The Widdifield Wildcats senior boys volleyball team turned in a strong showing at the St. Joseph invitational tournament on the weekend.

The Wildcats reached the final and were defeated by an ‘AAAA’ school, Forest Height Trojans 25-20, 25-14.

Widdifield finished first in pool play, defeating R. F. Hall 25-16, 25-16, splitting with Holy Trinity 21-25, 25-18, and defeating Iona 25-8, 25-8.

This put the Wildcats into the quarterfinals against Barton Secondary School and Widdifield won 25-22, 25-23. They played St. Mike’s College in the semifinals and won the first set 25-13 and dropped the second 25-18 before taking the match with a 15-13 win.
