The Nipissing Wild put together a solid effort as they secured their first win of the season with a 45-28 win over the visiting Vaughan Rebels in OFC action at the Trojan Alumni Complex Saturday afternoon.

The win improves the Wild record to 1-3 on the season.

Tyson Brear, the Wild head coach, credited the defence for their part the big home victory.

“I thought it took us a quarter to get going but we started to get going and make some plays in the 2nd quarter,” stated Brear.

“The defence made some great stops and turned the game around with a couple key turnovers. Full marks to Vaughan to played hard right to the end despite being short in numbers.”

The Wild’s next game is Saturday, June 24th when they face the Brantford Bison.
