The Widdifield Wildcats got off to a tremendous start Tuesday to begin play in the NOSSA AAA tournament in Sudbury.

Tuesday morning the local Cats beat the Lasalle Lancers of Sudbury 7-1 in their opening game.

Scott Audette, Cory Raymond, Jason Ethier, Adam
Courvoisier, Kevin Plouffe, Jesse Bethune and Nick Cliche scored for the Cats while goalie Ryan Cote, winner of the
NDA top Goaltender award, was named player of the game after making several key saves throughout the contest.

The team established the tempo of the game early and never let up. They played a physical game and controlled the puck from the outset. They moved the puck well and consistently found the open ice causing the Lancers to be back on their heals for most of the contest. The Wildcats led after the first 2-0 and stretched this to 5-0 at the end of the second. They came out in the third and scored 2 goals in the
first 3 minutes stretching their lead to 7-0. LaSalle's only goal came with about seven minutes left in the contest.

The Wildcats next game is at 6:00 p.m. when they will meet the St. Basils Saints from Sault Ste. Marie. Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. they will meet the St. Charles
Cardinals from Sudbury.
