WF Minor Sports reaches final (new0

West Ferris Minor Sports was the lone team from the West Ferris Minor Hockey Association to make it to one of the championship finals in the 21st annual West Ferris MHA peewee/bantam early bird tournament this weekend.

In a fast-paced entertaining final Sunday at the Pete Palangio Arena, Pep Kelly Rink, New Liskeard Pedersen Peewees edged West Ferris Minor Sports 3-2 in the major peewee championship game.

Both teams had plenty of scoring chances, but goaltenders Sheldon West of New Liskeard and Patrick Rochefort of West Ferris made some good saves.

Spencer Wilson, Jacob Bedard and Jake Ryan handled the scoring for New Liskeard. Ryan scored the winning goal at the 5:28 mark of the third period, coming to the front of net and firing a shot behind Rochefort.

Kevin Kosturik and Chad Gagnon had the goals for West Ferris.

Mitchell Davis, West Ferris and Ryan were named the players of the game for their respective teams.

More than 50 teams took part in the tournament held at the Pete Palangio Arena, West Ferris Arena and Memorial Gardens.
