Walters to compete for Canada's National Cross Country team

North Bay's Matt Walters will compete for Canada's National Cross Country team after qualifying at the Canadian National Senior Championships in Vancouver in November.

Representing the North Bay Legion Track Club, Walters ran to a sixth place finish in the senior men's race to qualify for the Canadian team that will compete in Jamaica in January at the NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association) Cross Country Championships.

The West Ferris Secondary graduate has also qualified for the Canadian National team that will compete at the Senior Men's World XC Championships in Poland in March.

Walters is in his final year of CIS competition where he runs track and xc for the University of Windsor.

Graham Hansel of West Ferris Secondary School narrowly missed making the Junior Mens's National team as he ran to a 8th place finish in the Junior Men's race.
