The hottest team in all of Canadian Jr. A hockey continues their torrid pace as the Powassan Voodoos won their 20th Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League game in succession Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Timmins Rock 4-2 at McIntyre Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Voodoo’s Andy Baker opened the scoring 11:36 into the middle stanza on assists from Kyle Challis and Cade Herd.

Timmins drew level before the session was complete however as Jacob Shankar collected his 10th tally of the season just over three minutes later.

The Rock then went in front 55 seconds into the third on a Bain Cunningham effort.

Tyson Gilmour would tie it for Powassan at 5:14 as his marker helped him extend a consecutive game point streak to 10 straight outings.

Baker then supplied his second of the day, league-leading 29th overall and eventual game-winning goal with 5:44 remaining in regulation to put the visitors in front for good.

Ryan Bazzana then secured win No. 20 in a row for his side with an empty netter in the late going to round out the scoring.

Nate McDonald capped off a three-game road trip for the Voodoos making 22 saves in the contest to earn the victory.

Al Rogers faced 21 attempts in defeat for Timmins.

The win wraps up the Voodoos second straight three-in-three weekend as they knocked off the Gold Miners Friday and edged the Cochrane Crunch 4-2 Saturday night.

The Voodoos did the very same last weekend knocking off Cochrane, Timmins and Iroquois Falls which improved the winning streak to 17 straight wins.
