For yet another week the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has three of its member clubs, including Powassan Voodoos, listed in the latest Canadian Junior Hockey League Pointstreak top 20 rankings, which were announced Monday.

Fresh off a three-game road trip sweep the Powassan Voodoos are once again ranked No. 1 overall in the weekly tabulations while the surging Soo Thunderbirds jumped to sixth overall and the Cochrane Crunch were slotted 20th in the CJHL listings, which are compiled in conjunction with International Scouting Services.

Powassan is a perfect 13-0-0-0 to begin the NOJHL season as they hold down top spot as the lone unbeaten side in the 131-team CJHL.

It's the third week in a row that the Voodoos have held down the top position in the rankings.

Voodoos net 2 of 3 Eastlink Stars of the Week

A couple of key contributors to the Voodoos 6-point weekend were recognized today by the NOJHL as Tyler Peters and Garrett Forrest were named as two of the three Eastlink Stars of the Week.

Tyler Peters was instrumental in helping his hometown Voodoos skate to a trio of road victories.

The 19-year-old Powassan product began by tallying twice in a 5-4 double overtime triumph at Cochrane on Friday.

One night later he set-up two more markers, including the game-winner just prior to time expiring as the Voodoos edged Timmins by a 5-4 count.

Peters then capped off an eight-point week with a hat trick and an assist as Powassan topped Iroquois Falls 7-3 Sunday afternoon at Jus Jordan Arena.

Currently riding a 13-game point streak for the unbeaten Voodoos he leads his club in offensive production with 27 points while sitting eighth in NOJHL scoring.

As for Battalion prospect Garrett Forrest, he made two starts last week, winning both of them in a pair of 40-plus save performances.

Friday night Forrest made 48 stops in his team’s double overtime victory at Cochrane.

He then had 43 more saves in Iroquois Falls Sunday afternoon as the Voodoos moved to 13-0 on the season.

Finishing the week with a .929 save percentage, Forrest in 7-0 to start the campaign for Powassan.
