The first place Powassan Voodoos will hit the ice tonight as they open up the best-of-seven East Division semi-final series against the Timmins Rock.

Game one will take place tonight at the Powassan Sportsplex with Game two taking place Saturday night.  Both games have a 7 pm puck drop.

The Rock come into the series after winning a best-of-three quarterfinal series over the Hearst Lumberjacks in three games.

The defending NOJHL champion Voodoos, who finished first overall for the second straight year in the NOJHL, hold a 7-0-1 record against the Rock who had a tie and an overtime loss with the Voodoos this season.

The Voodoos outscored the Rock 36-21 in those eight encounters.

NOJHL Rookie of the Year Harrison Israels supplied two of the game-winning markers for Powassan while both of teammate Dylan D’Agostino’s tallies vs. the Rock were also the difference maker.

However, the hard-skating Rock closed the gap in the second half of the season, as all the Voodoos wins in the second half of the season were within a goal or two of the feisty Rock team.

The series changes with Game 3 & 4 now scheduled for Tuesday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 21 at McIntyre Arena in Timmins.

If necessary, Game 5 is now slated for Friday, March 23 in Powassan while a Game 6, if required, would be held Sunday, March 25 up in Timmins.

Should the series go the distance, the Voodoos would host it on Tuesday, March 27 at the Sportsplex.

All NOJHL postseason contests will be streamed online live and on demand via HockeyTV.com.
