The Powassan Voodoos have hired former major junior scout Pat Lacelle as their new Associate General Manager and Director of Scouting.

The 43-year-old Ottawa native has been involved in hockey for 24 years including four seasons working in the QMJHL with Acadie Bathurst and Cape Breton among a number of other positions with teams including three seasons with the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior A Hockey League.

“I think I bring a diverse background of scouting, recruiting, coaching, and managing hockey teams from across Canada and in Europe,” said Lacelle.

“My experience at the Junior A, Major Junior and Professional level provides additional expertise to our organization.”

Voodoos GM Chris Dawson believes Lacelle is a good fit.

“Both coach Max (Gavin) and I got a really good feel about what Pat can do for this team moving forward,” stated Dawson.

“He has a wealth of scouting experience and we think with his tremendous network of contacts, he will definitely help us with our recruiting moving forward.”

Lacelle replaces the outgoing Associate GM Mike Mackley, who left the Voodoos in the early spring to join the Brantford 99ers of the OJHL.

The Voodoos continue with day three of main camp on Saturday with practice in the morning and a scrimmage in the afternoon in Powassan.

The Voodoos will hit the road for their first exhibition game on Sunday night as they travel to Pembroke to face the CCHL's Pembroke Lumber Kings.
