Graduating Powassan Voodoos forward Brandon MacKinnon has committed to Concordia University Wisconsin.

The NCAA Division III team plays in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA).

The Toronto, Ontario product joined the team in December in a trade with the Stouffville Spirit of the OJHL.   He tallied eight goals along with 18 assists for 26 points in 27 regular season games with the Voodoos in 2017-18.

MacKinnon, who was recently in Powassan for the Voodoos annual golf tournament, is thrilled about this opportunity.

“I’m really excited to announce that I’ve committed to Concordia University-Wisconsin,” said MacKinnon.

“I want to thank the Aurora Tigers, Stouffville Spirit and the entire Voodoo’s organization, the coaching staff, GM Chris Dawson, former AGM Mike Mackley for bringing me down there, and the best owners a player could ask for Jim Bruce and the Rivet Brothers. Could not ask for a better place to finish juniors.”

In other Voodoos news, Vitali Yachmenev, who joined the team as an assistant coach late last season, has taken on an assistant coaching role with Ufa in the KHL.

The Voodoos are continuing to prepare for the 2018-19 as they are holding another prospects camp in Powassan on July 27th and 28th.
