HEARST, ON - The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League-leading Powassan Voodoos picked up three points apiece from forwards Harrison Israels and Quintin Loon-Stewardson along with defenceman Dayton Murray to help propel them to their sixth straight victory, an 8-3 decision over the Hearst Lumberjacks, Friday night at Claude Larose Arena.

Powassan came out flying in the first period grabbing a 3-0 lead late into the frame on tallies from Loon-Stewardson, Shane Beaulieu and Israels, who collected his 20th of the campaign.

Hearst got one back with two seconds remaining in the period off the stick of Bradley Golant, as he notched his ninth overall, late.

The Voodoos kept coming however in the middle stanza picking up early markers from Kobe Desmond and Tomas Yachmenev before the period was five minutes old.

Samuel Bourdages brought the Lumberjacks closer at 5:54 to make it 5-2 game only to see Dylan D’Agostino and Cameron Moore notch power play goals before the second was complete to extend the Powassan lead.

Golant supplied his second of the night in the third for Hearst before the Voodoos’ Tyson Gilmour rounded out the scoring with his club’s third straight man advantage marker.

Battalion prospect Christian Cicigoi made 32 saves to record the win for Powassan.

Gabriel Couture suffered the loss for Hearst in his NOJHL debut allowing five against on 15 attempts before giving way to Nicholas Dube, who handled 15 of 18 in 35 and a half minutes of relief.

The Voodoos have little time to rest as they travel to Iroquois Falls on Saturday to face the Cochrane Crunch as part of the Voodoos 3-in-3 weekend road trip which finishes off Sunday in TImmins.
