The Powassan Voodoos are back on the ice this weekend to officially start the 2016-17 season.

It’s been a busy off-season for the third year NOJHL franchise which finished 2015-16 as the 14th ranked team in the entire CJHL but was eliminated in the first round of the NOJHL playoffs by the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.

The Voodoos will begin with fitness testing tonight at 5 p.m. at the Powassan Sportsplex and then continue with ice time on the weekend leading into three exhibition games next week.

The Voodoos will entertain the OJHL’s Kingston Voyageurs on Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Powassan Sportsplex.

The Voodoos will then play their regional rival French River Rapids for a home and home series later in the week.

The Rapids will visit Powassan on Wednesday, August 31st for a 2:30 p.m. puck drop.

The Voodoos will head west on Thursday, September 1st for a 7:30 p.m. contest in Noelville against the Rapids to finish up the week long training camp.
