The Powassan Voodoos have re-acquired defenceman Eric Mondoux from the Hamilton Kilty B’s of the GOJHL, the club announced on Friday.

The offensive defenceman netted four goals and 20 assists for 24 points in 47 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs affiliate team last season.

Mondoux, who had a solid rookie season with the Voodoos in 2017-18, felt coming back home was the right decision.

“I am very excited to be back playing for the Voodoos and coming back home and going after an NOJHL championship,” said the former North Bay Major Midget AAA Trappers defenceman.

“I can’t wait to get things started.”

Voodoos coach Max Gavin believes Mondoux believes his physical style and offensive instincts will be a welcome addition to the Voodoos blueline.

“We are thrilled to have Eric back with the program,” said Gavin.

“As a veteran guy, he will be looked to lead our D core and be counted on in all situations. I can’t wait to work with him and all the other players this season.”

The Voodoos also have traded Battalion prospect David Campbell to the Blind River Beavers for a development fee.

“We wish all the best of luck for David in his goal of trying to make the Battalion this fall,” stated Voodoos GM Chris Dawson.

“If not, this trade will allow him to continue to develop in Blind River close to his home in St. Joseph Island.”

The Voodoos open training camp next Friday, August 23 at the Powassan Sportsplex.
